Big Announcement: Dancing Together IRL

Hello, Loves.

We have big news this week. There’s a new launch happening and it feels absolutely perfect for spring, for hope, for conscious gathering together. . . . for dancing as a community IRL outdoors!!! (whispered aside, I surely WILL be blowing past my exclamation point allotment . .and I trust you’ll forgive me.)

From the Open Floor Newsletter:

Starting April 11th, we are launching new and enhanced formats that will allow you to dance alone or with others, indoors or out….anywhere in the world.

  • Dance outdoors with friends and others - masked and socially distanced as required in your area

  • New! 20 minute dance breaks, where a little bit of dance goes a long way

  • Dance 4 days a week with our 60 minute live sessions

  • Innovative and cutting edge listening technology

  • International cadre of senior teachers

$54/month subscription program, as little as $2.70 per dance!

I have to tell you, I’m having a hard time taking this in. I just sat here for a full five minutes, staring at the screen, wondering, “Am I ready for this?” and “What does this mean in terms of how I gather, how I dance with others?”. And this, “how will it feel to dance with this beloved community and hug each other?” Yeah, I trust we’ll all figure it out together. I feel a great sense of excitement in my body but I also notice a tinge of trepidation. I want to be mindful. More accurately stated, I wanted to be both “bodyful” and “mindful”. I want to listen to the intelligence in my body, as Gabrielle Roth used to say, “the center of instinct, intuition, and authenticity”. This is the body’s intelligence. And I want to be attuned to it. I want to be “bodyful”. 😊 (Admittedly, taking some license with the English language here. Feeling playful.) So, what do you think? Are you ready to dive back into dance with both feet?

Here's the link to subscribe:

Note: to be clear, the subscription is the only way to dance with Open Floor Marin—whether on zoom or in-person. There is no drop-in option. That said, this is definitely an invitation to deepen one’s practice. Dance more! (and I hear the new sound technology is beyond fabulous!)

Tomorrow, Kathy will lead us and greet us and, with loving kindness, introduce us to the magical wonders of dancing within a new format. So exciting.

And here’s a poem for your reading pleasure:

The World I Live In by Mary Oliver

I have refused to live

locked in the orderly house of

reasons and proofs.

The world I live in and believe in

is wider than that. And anyway,

what’s wrong with Maybe?

You wouldn’t believe what once or

twice I have seen. I’ll just

tell you this:

only if there are angels in your head will you

ever, possibly, see on.

May you encounter angels, my beloved dancing friends!

So screamingly excited to dance with you in person-----even if there’s no hugging! There will be hugging again one day!!

Warm, squishy, wrap-around hugs,
