There’s something so magical about meeting regularly with a small group of friends and/or strangers to write together. For writers and non-writers alike, it’s easier to relax into a simple rhythm: writing, sharing, and listening. What comes through us is real, messy, touching, occasionally heartbreaking, and often hilarious. Over time I come to depend on the refuge of these brief, weekly gatherings. ​

 

I know in my bones that writing awakens the mind and connects hearts. Together we’ll practice writing swiftly enough to outrun our habitual censor. I'll offer up a poem, a single word, a wild headline, a song – the doorways to falling into our own creative stream are endless. We start to know each other beyond our polished selves. Then we do it again. ​
